Delete your account
You can delete your account yourself, from inside the app. Open Settings → Delete Account, confirm, and your account and synced data are removed from our servers immediately.
Deleting from the app
- Open InkStrip and go to Settings
- Tap Delete Account
- Confirm when prompted
Your account record and all synced reading data are deleted from our live database straight away, and your sign-in is removed from our authentication provider.
Deleting by email instead
If you can’t reach the in-app flow — for example you have already removed the app — email privacy@themattlabs.com from the email address linked to your InkStrip account. Use the subject line:
InkStrip account deletion request
You don’t need to give a reason. We may ask you to confirm the request from the same email address as a security check.
What gets deleted
- Your account record (email, Firebase user ID)
- All synced reading data (reading progress, preferences, library manifest, reading sessions)
- Any deletion tombstones associated with your account
- Support communications older than two years are also routinely purged
What is retained, and why
- Subscription records — retained in anonymised form as required for tax and accounting (typically 7 years)
- Crash reports — aggregated and anonymised; Firebase deletes raw crash data on its own schedule (90 days). InkStrip contains no analytics SDK, so there are no analytics events to retain
Timing
Deleting from the app is immediate. If you ask us by email instead, we will confirm receipt within two working days and complete the deletion within 30 days. Either way, backup copies may persist in our infrastructure backups for a short additional period (no longer than 90 days) before they are overwritten.
What this does not do
- It does not cancel your Apple subscription — cancel that in iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions
- It does not delete the InkStrip app from your device — long-press the app icon and choose Remove App
- It does not delete comic files from your device or from your connected cloud folders — those have always been yours and we never had a copy
